Roaches: A Compliance Killer

Roaches are one of the most serious threats to any facility. They spread bacteria, trigger allergies, and are a leading cause of failed inspections. Because they thrive in cracks, drains, and utility areas, infestations grow fast and hide deep inside buildings. At LanYap, we take a zero-tolerance approach—our programs combine monitoring stations, targeted treatments, and environmental corrections to eliminate roaches and keep facilities compliant.

Key Risks

1-sheild

Health Hazards

Roaches spread bacteria and allergens, contaminating food, surfaces, and equipment.

2-sheild

Sanitation Failures

Droppings, shed skins, and foul odors make facilities appear unclean and unsafe.

3-sheild

Operational Disruption

Infestations spread quickly through walls, kitchens, and storage, forcing costly treatments and downtime.

4-sheild

Compliance Risks

In regulated facilities, roach activity can lead to failed inspections, fines, and potential shutdowns.

Common Roach Types

  • American Cockroaches: The largest of the common species, these reddish-brown roaches are often called “water bugs” but are far more destructive. They prefer damp, warm areas like basements, boiler rooms, utility tunnels, and sewer lines, which makes them a frequent problem in commercial and industrial facilities. Their size and speed alarm employees and visitors, while their droppings and secretions contaminate surfaces and produce a foul odor. Once established, they travel widely through a building, spreading bacteria and allergens.

  • German Cockroaches: Light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, German roaches are the most persistent and fast-breeding species. They thrive in kitchens, restrooms, vending areas, and employee breakrooms—anywhere food and moisture are available. Even a single sighting usually means hundreds are hidden inside walls, cabinets, and appliances. German roaches are notorious for contaminating food prep areas, triggering health code violations, and quickly overwhelming facilities if not treated aggressively.

  • Asian Cockroaches: Nearly identical in appearance to German roaches but with different behavior. Asian roaches are strong fliers and are highly attracted to lights, which makes them a regular nuisance around entry doors, outdoor lighting, and landscaped areas. They often migrate indoors from lawns, mulch, and vegetation, creating sanitation issues and employee complaints. Because they can fly in from outside, infestations can be harder to control without addressing exterior pressure.
