Wasps: Aggressive Facility Hazards
Wasps are aggressive pests that build nests in eaves, walls, and outdoor structures around facilities. Their stings can cause painful reactions, create medical risks for sensitive individuals, and disrupt employees working outdoors. Large colonies near entryways, parking lots, or equipment areas also alarm customers and visitors. LanYap identifies nesting sites, safely removes colonies, and applies preventative measures to keep your property safe and accessible.
Key Risks

Sting Hazards
Painful stings cause medical risks for employees, visitors, and customers.

Aggressive Colonies
Disturbing nests near doors, docks, or work areas can trigger swarms.

Outdoor Disruption
Activity around parking lots, entryways, or break areas makes spaces unusable.

Recurring Pressure
Wasps rebuild nests quickly each season if not professionally treated.
Common Bee Types
- Honey Bees: Honey bees are essential pollinators, but when colonies establish themselves in walls, attics, or other structures, they create significant problems. Large hives can hold thousands of bees that aggressively defend their nest. Beyond the sting risk, honey and wax left inside structures can damage walls and attract other pests.
- Carpenter Bees: These solitary bees bore perfectly round holes into wood to build galleries for their eggs. Over time, multiple bees targeting the same area can weaken decks, siding, fences, and eaves. While less aggressive than honey bees, males hover and intimidate, and females will sting if provoked.
- Bumble Bees: Recognizable by their large, fuzzy bodies, bumble bees usually nest in the ground, old rodent burrows, or hidden cavities. They are generally less aggressive but will defend their nest when threatened. Their colonies are smaller than honey bees, but the risk of stings remains, especially when nests are near people or pets.
- Africanized Bees: Commonly referred to as “killer bees,” these are hybrids of honey bees known for their extreme defensiveness. They swarm quickly and in large numbers if disturbed, making them far more dangerous than other bee species. Attacks can be life-threatening, especially since they will chase perceived threats much farther than typical honey bees.
